Gear Ledger
The tools our guides actually use, what they cost, and whether you need them at all.
Straight with you: full reviews aren't up yet
We only review gear we've actually used in a build, so the reviews arrive as the guides do. Until then, every guide lists its exact materials, real costs, and where a cheaper or salvaged part works just as well.
What we're using right now
Raspberry Pi (and friends)
The little computer behind the ad blocker and the cyberdeck. Cheap, forgiving, everywhere.
Used in: Block Ads on Every Device →Seed-starting hardware
Grow lights, heat mats, and a timer - the parts that turn a shelf into a seed station.
Used in: Automated Seed-Starting Station →Cyberdeck parts bin
Small screens, mechanical keyboards, battery packs. The fun aisle.
Used in: Your First Cyberdeck →How we'll review
- • We buy it or salvage it, build with it, and tell you what broke.
- • Real prices, including the cheap alternative that also works.
- • Some links earn us a small commission at no cost to you - always marked, and a free or salvaged option is always listed when one exists.
